Case Study: Turkey Hill Dairy

Based in Conestoga, Pa., Turkey Hill Dairy is one of the national leaders in production of frozen desserts and iced tea.

Challenge: How does an ice cream manufacturer sell ice cream on the Internet effectively? How do they attract new customers to the site? How do they update their old site so it compliments their updated brand?

Solution: The answer was not to create a system that allows people to buy ice cream and have it shipped across the country. (By the way, people can do that). The answer was to create a website that people want to use. A website that makes a connection with them, just as the Turkey Hill brand does. In addition, content was selected and developed that would both attract visitors, and encourage them to return to the site again. The award-winning site now includes an online store, recipes, online games, email newsletters, a store locator, surveys, online job applications, many contests, and much more.

To help manage the over 300-page website, iComm developed a custom Content Management System so that different personnel from the client can update pages as they need.

Results: The Turkey Hill website now receives anywhere from 75,000-1000,000 visitors a month. Many of these customers return to the site for the fresh content and are exposed to new things Turkey Hill would like to promote, such as new products. In fact, over 20,000 customers have subscribed to the e-mail updates from the dairy so they can stay up to the date with Turkey Hill Dairy.
